Vicidocs pronto

An indexing engine is a software module that stores the position of words in a document so that searching for the document is facilitated. ViciDocs has a proprietary indexing engine, which is very powerful - it stores the position of each word in the document and also allows for fuzzy search capabilities. How are documents stored after scanning? How much disk space does one page occupy typically? The documents are stored in the TIFF format. A black and white text page with 50 lines after scanning typically occupies around 50KB. Is there any limit to the number of users of ViciDocs?Based on the licensing purchased by you the number of concurrent users is limited. But please contact info@vicidocs.com for unlimited user license. And the performance is dependant only on the hardware resources available on the server System Requirements ViciDocs Pronto can be deployed on a single machine or on multiple machines as per the specific requirements of the user. This is essentially a function of the size of the repository and/or the specific configuration preferences the Client may have. The hardware and software requirements will depend on that.

Hardware Requirements:Machine Configuration: The configuration of the machine has to be an Intel Pentium–II upwards with a suggested RAM of 128 MB; a minimum HDD of 10 GB and network card. Scanner:The Scanner needs to be a Twain-Compatible scanner with the maximum dpi for better quality of the images. The Speed of Scanner and other additional features like ADF can be as per the Organization preferences. (ii) SOFTWARE EQUIREMENTS: Operating System:The machine can run on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME. ODBC Driver for Microsoft Access is required on the machine. (iii) OTHER DEPENDENCIES: Apart from converting Paper documents to searchable digital documents, ViciDocs Pronto also supports any of the existing electronic document formats including MS-Word, RTF, PDF, MS-Excel, MS-Power Point, HTML, Plain Text and TIFF images (Group 3 compressed) etc where the existing softcopies of any of these document formats can be stored in ViciDocs repository. The native application installation for the respective document format will be required to view these files. For machines connected to the Scanners, appropriate Scanner Drivers should have been loaded onto the machine before using ViciDocs Pronto.

These drivers are normally given with the Scanner itself and are also usually downloadable from the web sites of the manufacturer. The Twain driver should also be pre installed for the scanner for ViciDocs Pronto application to automatically scan and store the documents in the repository. Document imaging refers to the conversion of paper documents into electronic images on your computer. Document imaging has become immensely popular as it offers many benefits to organizations like: Capture: This refers to capture of documents, both paper and electronic based. Paper documents are scanned in and typically a document management system offers various features like multipage creation etc for this process. Electronic documents are imported into the system. Storage: Document Management Systems should provide safe and reliable storage for documents. A good storage system will accommodate changing documents, growing volumes and advancing technology.

Indexing: Documents are indexed for easy retrieval. Indexing can be full-text (wherein documents can be retrieved by any word/phrase within them) or few fields or keywords which are manually entered. Retrieval: This allows for retrieval of the documents using the index information or the hierarchical classification. Also convenient viewing of the retrieved documents should be provided. Access: The system should provide authorized access to documents and maintain an audit trail.
